The January 2027 benefit is paid on Tuesday, December 22, 2026, earlier than the four-business-day rule alone would give. That makes the gap to the February 2027 payment longer than a month. Alberta had not yet published the February 2027 date or the rest of the 2027 schedule as of Monday, October 19, 2026; we will add it as soon as it appears.

How the dates are set

The rule on alberta.ca is simple: the payment "occurs 4 business days before the first of the month." Business days exclude weekends and statutory holidays, which is why the date moves around:

  • November 1, 2026 is a Sunday. Counting back four business days from Friday, October 30 gives Tue, Oct 27, 2026.
  • December 1, 2026 is a Tuesday, so the payment falls on Wed, Nov 25, 2026.
  • For January, the province set an earlier date, Tue, Dec 22, 2026, ahead of the Christmas week.

Direct deposit lands on the payment date. Cheques are mailed six business days before the first of the month, two business days before the deposit date, and then depend on Canada Post delivery. The province's advice is to plan ahead and, if needed, move the due dates of rent and bill payments so they fall after your benefit arrives.

AISH, ADAP and Income Support: which one are you on?

ProgramWho it is for
AISH (Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped)Adults with a severe disability that leaves them permanently unable to work.
ADAP (Alberta Disability Assistance Program)Adults with a severe disability that significantly restricts work, continuously or episodically, but does not prevent it. Launched July 2, 2026.
Income SupportAlbertans who don't have enough money for basic needs such as food, clothing and shelter.

Since July 2026 there is one combined application for AISH and ADAP: an adjudicator decides which program fits. ADAP clients can ask for an AISH assessment if their condition or ability to work changes.

What changed with ADAP in 2026

AISH clients were told in May 2026 whether they would move to the new program, and the transfers took effect in July 2026. Some people stayed on AISH automatically, though they could choose ADAP: people with a severe and profound developmental disability or receiving Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) services, people with palliative or terminal conditions, people living in a continuing care home, and people aged 60 or older.

Key figures published by the province:

ItemOfficial figure
ADAP core financial benefit$1,740 a month
Transition benefit for former AISH clients moved to ADAP$200 a month until December 31, 2027, keeping them at their AISH amount
Earnings before benefits are affected: AISH single or parent$350 a month
Earnings before benefits are affected: ADAP single$700 a month
Earnings before benefits are affected: ADAP parent$1,100 a month
Earnings before benefits are affected: cohabiting partner (AISH or ADAP)$1,500 a month
ADAP: maximum employment income while still getting financial benefits$45,240 a year
Child benefit (from the August 2026 benefit period)$300 first child, $117 second, $88 third, $59 fourth, $30 each additional
ADAP non-exempt asset limit$100,000

Health benefits continue for ADAP clients regardless of employment income. These figures can change; your benefit letter and the program pages on alberta.ca are the authority for your own amount.

If your payment is late

  1. Check the date. Make sure you are looking at the right benefit month in the table: the November payment arrives in October.
  2. Direct deposit: check with your bank at the end of the payment day. If nothing has arrived, check whether your banking details changed recently.
  3. Cheque: allow for normal mail delivery; the province warns that paper cheques depend on postal delivery times.
  4. Call: contact your caseworker or the Alberta Supports Contact Centre at 1-877-644-9992 (toll-free in Alberta).

Alberta does not publish a fixed waiting period before you should call. Signing up for direct deposit is the province's recommended way to get benefits faster and avoid mail problems.

Federal benefits and taxes

  • Apply for other income first. ADAP requires you to apply for income you may qualify for, such as CPP Disability, the Canada Disability Benefit, Employment Insurance or Workers' Compensation.
  • Report federal decisions. ADAP clients must tell the program when a Canada Disability Benefit or Disability Tax Credit application is approved or denied.
  • File a tax return every year. Federal payments such as the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit and the Canada child benefit are based on it, and they are paid on their own schedules.

Frequently asked questions

When is the January 2027 AISH payment?
