Who we are
This policy covers dateandclock.com ("Date and Clock", "we"). You can reach us about anything in it at info@dateandclock.com.
What we collect
We don't ask for your name, and there are no accounts. When you open a page, our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes the technical information needed to deliver the page and protect the site from abuse: your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. Cloudflare handles this under its own privacy policy, and it may be processed outside your country. We only look at aggregate figures, such as how many times a page was requested, which don't identify you.
Analytics is optional and described below. It is separate from the technical information needed to serve the site.
If you email us, we receive your email address and your message. We use them only to reply and to keep a record of corrections, and we keep them only as long as we need them for that.
Settings saved on your device
The alarm clock, timer, stopwatch and Pomodoro timer remember your settings, such as alarm times and
labels, up to three saved timer presets and your lap times, and the site remembers whether you chose the light or dark
look. Pomodoro keeps today's completed focus count and a history covering today and the previous six local calendar
dates. Older history is removed as the window advances. These records are stored in your browser's local storage
under names that start with cadates-. This information never leaves your device: it is not sent to us
or to anyone else. To delete it, clear the site data for dateandclock.com in your browser's settings. In a
private window, settings may not be saved at all. Browser storage can be blocked, cleared or lost; it is not a permanent
backup. Download laps (CSV) creates a file on your device only when you choose it; no lap data is uploaded.
If you turn on notifications or "keep my screen on" in a tool, your browser asks for permission first. The notification is created on your own device; we don't run a notification server and can't send you messages later.
Cookies
Cloudflare may set strictly necessary cookies to tell real visitors from automated abuse. Optional analytics cookies require the separate choice described below. Advertising cookies are described under Advertising.
Optional analytics
Optional Google Analytics is available on this build, but it stays off until you choose Accept analytics. You can use every tool without agreeing to analytics.
If analytics is enabled in a future or configured build, a small preferences panel offers Accept analytics and Reject analytics. No Google tag loads before an explicit opt-in. We do not infer agreement from your location, scrolling or use of a tool, and earlier actions are not saved to send later.
After opt-in, Google Analytics 4, provided by Google, receives one pageview for the current page and one for each later full page visit or reload while your choice remains accepted. Opening preferences, changing the theme or using a tool does not create extra pageviews. Google also receives limited activity events: starting, resuming, pausing or resetting a tool, naturally finishing a countdown or focus session, selecting a timer preset, making a stopwatch lap and creating an alarm. The fields are the tool type, broad duration range where applicable and Pomodoro mode. Page addresses exclude query strings and fragments, and page titles use the fixed site name rather than alarm labels or live timer values. A valid referring page is reduced to its HTTP or HTTPS origin and, only for a small set of known public paths, its path. Query strings, fragments, credentials and unknown referring paths are excluded. This source information helps distinguish search visits from other referrals. We use these figures to understand site visits and which tools work well; they describe consenting visitors only.
We do not send alarm labels or times, exact durations, lap values, tasks, notification text, stored tool
state or custom visitor identifiers. Google receives the network information necessary for its requests,
such as your IP address and browser information, and may process data outside your country. Analytics is
not anonymous: after consent, Google's first-party _ga cookies can distinguish browsers and
support session, first-visit and returning-visitor statistics. These figures cannot identify every return:
consent choices, cookie deletion, browser privacy settings and different devices affect them. Browser
referrer rules and Google's processing also limit traffic-source attribution; Search Console clicks and
Analytics sessions do not match one for one. See
how Google
uses information from sites that use its services and
Google's privacy policy.
When analytics is configured, Analytics preferences in the footer lets you change your choice at any
time. Reject analytics stops future pageview and tool-activity events, removes accessible site-scoped _ga
cookies where possible and reloads the page to unload the Google tag. Your saved alarms, timer, stopwatch
and Pomodoro settings are kept. Browser rules can prevent deletion of cookies outside this site's scope;
browser site-data controls can remove remaining cookies. Withdrawal does not erase data already received
by Google.
The separate cadates-analytics-consent preference stores only your choice on this device.
A temporary, tab-scoped denial preference also prevents an older acceptance from restarting analytics
when a preference write fails. We try to remove that older acceptance without deleting tool settings.
If all preference storage is blocked, the tools still work, but we cannot guarantee the choice survives
closing the tab; browser site-data controls can remove an older acceptance. Agreeing to
analytics never grants advertising consent. Advertising choices and any future advertising consent tool
are separate.
Advertising
Pages on this site may show ads from Google AdSense. When they do:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You can turn off personalized advertising from Google in My Ad Center, and read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
- You can opt out of personalized ads from other participating vendors at YourAdChoices.ca (Canada) or optout.aboutads.info.
Where the law requires consent, such as in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, ads are only personalized after you agree, and you can change your choice at any time. If you opt out, you will still see ads, but they won't be based on your browsing.
Children
The site is meant for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, for example under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation or California law, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or to have it deleted. In practice we receive email you send us, and, only if optional analytics is configured and you opt in, limited analytics reports processed by Google. Write to info@dateandclock.com and we will answer your request.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the "last updated" date at the top of the page changes too. A significant change, such as adding a new advertising or analytics service, is made here before the service is switched on.
